Licensing & Device Coverage

Dusty is provided under a Perpetual Lifetime License (Pay Once, Own Forever). We offer two primary license tiers:

  • check_circle Solo Lifetime: Valid for activation on one (1) personal Mac device.
  • check_circle Family / Multi-Mac Lifetime: Valid for activation on up to three (3) personal Mac devices.
  • check_circle All minor and major v2.x updates and compatibility patches are included with zero recurring fees.

Fair Use & AI Service Limits

Dusty provides intelligent AI file explanations powered by Google Gemini. To ensure service stability, prevent automated script abuse, and guarantee high availability for all customers, the following fair use guidelines apply:

  • verified Managed Cloud AI Quota: Each licensed device includes up to 10 AI scan explanations per calendar day (approx. 300 scans/month) processed via our managed cloud service. This comfortably exceeds normal storage maintenance requirements.
  • settings_suggest Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) for Unlimited AI: Users requiring unlimited or continuous high-frequency AI scans can enter their own free Google Gemini API key in app Settings > AI Engine for 100% unmetered, unlimited requests.
  • speed Unmetered Local Cleaning: Local disk scanning, 1-Click App Uninstallation, developer dependency discovery, and file deletion are strictly local and remain 100% unlimited at all times with zero quotas or rate limits.

macOS Trash Safety Disclaimer

Dusty is designed to safely identify system junk, caches, and large files. By default, Dusty moves items to the macOS System Trash to allow for user review and recovery.

User Responsibility

Users must review all files flagged for removal before initiating the final "Empty Trash" command in macOS.

Data Recovery

Once the system trash is emptied, Dusty cannot recover deleted data. We recommend regular Time Machine backups.

By using Dusty, you acknowledge that the final decision to delete files rests with you, the user.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, DUSTY AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM (A) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE; (B) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE; OR (C) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT.

In no event shall the total aggregate liability of Dusty exceed the amount you paid us to use the software in the last twelve months.
